On May 6th, thousands took to the streets of New York City to participate in the annual NYC Cannabis Parade, all to show their solidarity for the legalization of marijuana.

The NYC Cannabis Parade has been going strong for nearly 40 years, and this is perhaps one of the most critical years to date for marijuana advocates to show their support. As we recently covered, New York City is home to one of the most dangerous places to smoke weed in the country, and overall, the state still has laws that disproportionately affect men and women of color. The Trump Administration has made it clear that they will not be friends of the cannabis community, and coming out in numbers is one of the most important things we can do—outside of voting these bozos out of office.

But, let’s take a break from all that seriousness for a second, as we already have too much to worry about already, whether it’s losing our health care, nuclear war with North Korea, or powerful politicians colluding with Russia. After all, this is a parade we’re talking about, and since this is NYC, you know that New Yorkers came out in style.

We took a moment while covering the NYC Cannabis Parade to speak with some of the craziest looking and most stylish people in attendance, and to find out what inspired their outfits.
