Someone get Hollywood on the line! We’ve got a movie to sell.
In a story full of action, romance, suspense, and weed, two prisoners in a Choctaw, Oklahoma jail stole a set of keys and engineered a bold escape, all so they could join their star-crossed significant others for a two-hour heady smoke session.
According to an Oklahoma ABC affiliate, inmates Harley Davidson (yes, that’s really his name) and Rakeem Lennox were being held for drug possession charges last Wednesday when they grabbed a set of laundry room keys from the booking area. With no guards apparently watching, the pair walked out of the holding facility at 10:30 p.m.
Once free, the Shawshank cosplayers didn’t head to the border or return to a life of crime, but instead sought out their respective girlfriends to spark up and, ummm, hang out.
It may seem like a lot of work and huge risk for what essentially amounts to a regular Wednesday night, but sometimes the heart speaks louder than the law, and besides, going a few nights without weed is, y’know, a huge bummer.
After Davidson and Lennox finished the last blunt and kissed their girlfriends goodbye, the duo walked back to the county jail, turning themselves in to the officers on duty shortly after midnight, merely hours after their daring escape.
Left with the decision to either let the pair go unpunished or admit their total incompetence, the Choctaw County Sheriff's Dept. swallowed their pride and owned up to their ineptness, charging the pair with a host of crimes that we’re guessing are a bit more serious than the original possession rap.
Even without more specific details, we’re already thinking Seth Rogen and Snoop for the starring roles, with T.J. Miller and Woody Harrelson rounding out the cast as the bumbling sheriffs — Academy Awards here we come.
