When Ty Dolla $ign released his last track, the poppy, Skrillex and Damian Marley-assisted “So Am I,” we worried that his label was waiting for a radio hit before allowing his next album to come out. Thankfully, we were just being paranoid. Ty announced today that his next album, Beach House 3, will be dropping on October 27th. As a bonus, he shared two new tracks ostensibly taken from the project.

First off is “Dawsin’s Breek,” the title of which seems to only relate to the song via the line “Ice on creek like I’m Dawson”— between this and lead actor James Van Der Beek getting his own VICELAND show, Dawson’s Creek is having an unexpected resurgence nearly 15 years after its conclusion. How this song relates to the show is trivial in terms of our ability to enjoy it, though. Jeremih lends an breathy assist and Mike Will Made-It supplies yet another beat that pushes the limits of what hip-hop synths can sound like. What’s not to love?

The second track, “Message in a Bottle,” is a more low-key affair, and has nothing to do with the Police song of the same name, but like the previous track, its pop culture ties are inconsequential. What matters is that it’s an acoustic guitar-led ballad set to a waltz time signature, and Ty sounds superb sticking to his low, raspy register. Coincidentally or not, it’s very similar to “Paradise,” the sublime closing track from Jeremih’s last album. Seems like these guys have a lot in common!

Dolla $ign’s upcoming album will be the first release in the Beach House series in over three years, and despite its title, will actually be the fourth official installment (Beach House 1 & 2 were full length mixtapes; the commercially-released Beach House EP wasn’t assigned a number for whatever reason). In an interview with Beats 1 early today, Ty revealed that additional guests  on the album include YG, Future, and Swae Lee, all of whom he’s worked with in the past.
