Nearly 55 years ago, on August 6, 1962, the colony of Jamaica gained its independence from the United Kingdom. Freed up to express itself, the island nation has had a global impact few could have foreseen. With Jamaican Independence Day 2017 approaching, we are proud to bring you MERRY JANE Presents Jamaica Week, a seven-day celebration of the Jamaican people and all the great things they’ve given to the world — from music, dance, and food, to the Rastafarian religion, cannabis culture, and good vibes.
