A routine call led to a major drug bust for police in New Jersey, who were called to the scene after a "concerned citizen" noticed two individuals smoking marijuana in a black van, Oceanside media reports.
Leon Sarvis, 27, and Ronald Walker, 32, must have been smoking on a sativa, because they were super alert. As soon as they saw officers pull up they rolled out, and through a stop sign, doh!
At just after 1:30 p.m. on May 18, officers pulled the men over for a traffic violation. The smell of pot in the air gave officers an in for the search. Police found over 500 doses of heroin as well as a slew of other paraphonalia.
Sarvis was found with a bag of marijuana and $200 in cash on his person. They searched Walker and found the 571 decks of heroin hidden in Walker’s pants, in addition to crack cocaine and $2,000 in cash.
A further search of the car revealed an additional ounce of marijuana, one ounce of THC oil extracts, butane torches, a vaporizer pen purportedly used for the extracts, a digital scale, rolling papers, spray mace, and a gun cleaning kit; no firearm was found. Both men were quickly taken into custody.
Walker was charged with possession of heroin with intent to distribute, possession of crack cocaine, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession with intent to distribute drugs in a school zone and a township park, and a slew of other drug charges. Based on his previous outstanding warrants, his bail was set at $100,000.
Sarvis was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and bail was set at $35,000. Both men were taken to Ocean County Jail, but were not presently in jail as of Tuesday. There are also no records of the two men being represented by an attorney.
