Legendary artist, MERRY JANE co-founder, and businessman extraordinaire, Snoop Dogg, is receiving yet another accolade, this time at the 2016 BET Awards.

Snoop will be honored with the I Am Hip Hop Icon Award at the 11th annual ceremony, the network announced. Snoop will receive the award Saturday at a taped event at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre outside of Atlanta.

The award honors hip hop artists who have iconic careers that have shaped the face of the genre. This year, Snoop will be joining the impressive pantheon of past I Am Hip Hop winners, such as LL Cool J (2011), Ice Cube (2009), and Grandmaster Flash (2006).

Picking Snoop to be honored seems like a no brainer: Snoop’s over twenty-five year music career has been packed with dozens of groundbreaking and genre-bending hits. His 1993 debut album, Doggystyle, debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 and sold over 800,000 copies in its first week. From there, Snoop went on to build a multi-platinum career that has included classics like "Drop it Like Its Hot" and "Sensual Seduction". Most recently, Snoop dropped his 14th studio album and collab with Wiz Khalifa called COOLAID, earlier this summer. Besides just changing the hip hop game, Snoop’s ability to transcend time and trends have made his music perpetually current. For more info, BET’s timeline of Snoop’s career is definitely not something to be missed.

The BET Hip Hop Awards will not air until October 4th, but the show’s lineup is already looking bonkers. Catchphrase-extraordinaire, DJ Khaled hosts, and hopefully will drop a couple of “Major Keys” throughout the event. “King of the South,” T.I. is set to perform, Gucci Mane makes his long awaited return to the BET stage, and performances by Travis Scott and Desiigner will take the show to the next level. No word yet on whether Snoop will perform, but who can forget his opener to the 2015 awards? ICYMI, Snoop hosted the Hip Hop Awards last year, and kicked off the event with this lit number.
