Headed to SXSW this weekend? So is everyone it seems. Even the POTUS couldn’t say no to a jam packed weekend of some of the best up and coming musicians around the country. It’s hard to actually see music with all the chaos going on there, so if you only see a few acts–see some of these.

Hinds

Madrid based dreamgirls Hinds have been pumping out lo-fi hit after hit, and their onstage energy is unmatched. See them all four times if you dare.

Porches

It’s a guarantee that if you work in music and live in Brooklyn, you’ve seen Porches play dozens of times. But with their newly released LP Pool (Domino) on the rise, it’ll be know time at all until they are everywhere. Catch them at SX while you still can.

Miguel

One of the bigger acts playing in Austin next week, Miguel is as sultry as they come. Take a break from the PBR soaked stages and let those velvety vocals take over.

Honduras

My favorite quote about Honduras once described their lead singer Pat Phillips as the “nicest guy with a neck tattoo,” and they aren’t wrong. But Brooklyn punk outfit Honduras delivers a blast of energy from the second they hit the stage until their final note. See what the hype is all about.

Lucius

Angelic vocals met with colorful outfits from the front women? Yes, please. Lucius is preparing to release their first record since 2014’s Wildewoman, expect their sets to be previews of new material.

Vince Staples

Do I have to sell you on Vince Staples? It’s Vince Staples. He’s going to crush it. Go see him.

Stealing Sheep

Saw Stealing Sheep at CMJ in 2015 and they were a highlight for me. I’m a sucker for onstage ensembles, and these ladies pull off quite the look. Synth and drum beats will have you dancing through the sticky Texas heat.
