Delicious treats and massages are expected at an Orange County, California spa party, but this one was a little different.

The spa products at this party were infused with cannabis, an effort to use weed to ease the pain of guests suffering from diseases like fibromyalgia.

Inbetween massages and facial treatments with cannabis topicals like Mary's Medicinal products, guests noshed on light bites and desserts.

The event was organized by Tamara Anderson, a nurse by day and a cannabis advocate by night. Anderson, who was born with an autoimmune disease, learned her son suffers from the same condition.

As her son's health declined, Anderson was unsure of where to turn. Her son was sick and tired of going to doctors and hospitals. One day he came up with an idea of his own, and at the age of 12 started smoking marijuana recreationally.

This idea didn't sit well with Anderson who tasked her son with researching the dangers of cannabis and writing an essay on the topic.

While Anderson's son was doing his research she decided to do a little studying of her own.

That's when Anderson began to educate herself on the extensive list of health benefits marijuana offers. She soon realized marijuana was the missing link for both her and her son to live a higher quality of life.

CANNASPA was created as a chance to treat pain with cannabis-infused topicals and massages.

Anderson isn't stopping with just beauty. Stay tuned for a Culinary Cannabis Event being held on July 24 in Southern California. This is a medical edible industry event combating stigmas and stereotypes about cannabis.
