WWE superstar John Cena is trading in the wrestling mat for the red carpet tomorrow as he is set to host the ESPYS at 8 p.m. ET on ABC. The Trainwreck star explained how thrilled he was to host the ESPYS after posting on his Instagram page a picture of an ESPY award.

"It is truly an honor to be named host of the 2016 ESPYS," Cena added in an official release from ESPN. "Not only will the biggest names in sports and entertainment come together to recognize some of the most spectacular athletic performances of the year, but we'll also raise funds for The V Foundation to further much-needed cancer research."

This year’s ESPYS features NBA star Stephen Curry up for three awards. Curry took home the Best Male Athlete at the 2015 ESPYS last year. TNT NBA sideline report Craig Sager, will be presented with the Jimmy V Perseverance award after battles with leukemia in the last several years. Sager revealed last March that the cancer was no longer in remission.

“The Jimmy V Award is given to someone in sports who has overcome great obstacles through perseverance and determination,” ESPN.com explained. It is named for Valvano, the NCAA-winning coach who gave an emotional acceptance speech at the 1993 ESPYS that included his famous words "Don't Give Up … Don't Ever Give Up!" He died of cancer later that year.
