Despite popular belief, a cannabis massage won’t get you high — at least in a traditional sense. Editor of Allure Magazine Meirev Devash visited the Denver based LoDo Massage Studio and booked a ‘Mile High Massage’ that utilizes a cannabis-laced massage lotion. After a blissful experience there, Devash hoped to find out more about the science of cannabis massages, leading her onwards to the now-closed Primal Wellness of Colorado, previously known as the ‘world’s first cannabis-infused spa.’

“Since it doesn’t penetrate the bloodstream, topical cannabis has no psychogenic effects (meaning you won’t get stoned), but it relaxes muscles so the therapist can go deeper without causing pain.” However, through all the treatments including massages, manicures, waxes and facials, she reported feeling a different kind of high — a high induced by a happy body and mentality.
