Every year, the extremely talented HUF team goes on an epic tour (in conjunction with Thrasher) appropriately titled “Tour de Stoops,” presumably after the stupid behavior that happens off the board. However,the skating is also stupid, as in stupidly good.
After hitting up Asia last year, and the United States the year before, this time it was Europe’s turn to get absolutely savaged by the likes of Dick Rizzo, Tyler Bledsoe, Jake Anderson, Brad Cromer, Austyn Gillette, Dan Plunkett and Matt Gottwig. Over the 20 day tour, they tore up London, Copenhagen and Paris without mercy.
Overall, the skating is wonderful, as each rider brings their own style and area of expertise to the mix. Gillette floats like a butterfly, Cromer rides away as smoothly as possible from every trick, and Dick Rizzo pop shuvs onto little concrete inlets with ease. Despite everyone’s solidest of solid performances, Matt Gottwig takes the cake thanks to his unbridled enthusiasm, tenacity and just straight gnarliness. The backside flip over the wall is bonkers.
