MERRY JANE spoke with Angelenos to discuss how they imagine 420 popped into existence. One thing was clear: many of our fellow tokers never took the time to research how it all started. So, quickly—take note of all of the various myths you have heard about this day, and answer the question yourself: how do you think 420 began? (Don’t Google it, either.) Was it started because it falls on a particular tyrant’s birthday? Does it originate from a song released in the 1960s? Did Snoop start it?
