If you’re a kind and rational American, the last few months have been pretty rough for you, to say the least (ahem, practically every day after November 8th). But, alas, while much of the country remains divided between conservative and liberal, Republican and Democrat, red state and blue state, there might be one common desire amidst all of our differences—and that’s the legalization of marijuana.

A liberal state like California passing legislation to permit recreational weed may not surprise anyone, but what may surprise you is that some conservative states passed similar laws that cut restrictions on marijuana last November. For example, while Florida helped elect Trump into the White House, voters were responsible enough to allow patients with debilitating diseases to get access to pot for their treatment.

So, let’s check out the red states that went green in 2016, and why this may be the best sign yet that we may be getting a legalized country sometime in the near future. Forget red state and blue state: it’s time for all of us to unite and go red, white, and green.
