1 . Florida Cop Arrested for Planting Drugs on Innocent Drivers

A former Florida cop has been arrested for planting drugs on unsuspecting drivers at traffic stops and then arresting them for made-up drug charges.

Police arrested former Jackson County deputy Zachary Wester in Crawfordville, a small town about 20 miles south of Tallahassee, on Wednesday. According to the arrest warrant, Wester routinely pulled motorists over for minor traffic violations, including claims that he smelled marijuana in their vehicles. The former cop then planted drugs in these vehicles and arrested the drivers or passengers on fabricated charges.

In one case, a man who was arrested for these fake charges lost custody of his daughter. In October of 2017, Wester allegedly planted methamphetamine on Benjamin Bowling, then arrested him and charged him with possession. Florida’s child welfare agency had just awarded Bowling custody of his daughter, but this custody was revoked following the arrest, even though the innocent man passed a drug test.

Wester is currently being held in the Wakulla County Jail without bail, but the case is far from over. “A significant investigation has been and is being conducted,” Williams told the Democrat. “FDLE has assigned a team of 10 special agents and two crime analysts who have logged over 1,400 hours on this case already. And it’s still ongoing today.”

2. Vice President Pence Will Watch the Coast Guard Destroy 39,000 Pounds of Cocaine

On Thursday, Pence will visit two US Navy bases in San Diego, California. At one of those bases, the Naval Air Station North Island, the Veep plans to attend an “offloading” ceremony, where the Coast Guard will transfer 39,000 pounds of cocaine and 933 pounds of weed for destruction, likely by dumping it into the sea. (Good luck trying to retrieve that from the Pacific, dope fiends.)

By the Coast Guard’s estimates, the drug-dump will wipe out an estimated $569 million worth of coke and cannabis, according to street values.

“We disrupt the cocaine profits drug cartels use to diversify and fund other illicit activities like trafficking opioids and methamphetamines, and we do it at sea where they are most vulnerable,” the Coast Guard said in a statement.

In 2016, then-presidential candidate Trump declared himself the “Law and Order Candidate,” and getting tough on drug crimes was one of his campaign promises. Earlier this year, under Trump’s watch, US Customs conducted the biggest cocaine bust in the nation’s history, seizing $1 billion in cocaine in Philadelphia.

As for the Coast Guard, its most recent cocaine-seizure record was set in 2017, with 493,000 pounds of blow confiscated. Before that, in 2016, the Coast Guard intercepted 416,000 pounds of cocaine. And before that, the record was 367,700 pounds, in 2008.

3. Megan Rapinoe and Snoop Dogg Want Equal Pay for Women Athletes

US Women’s Soccer Team captain Megan Rapinoe made the news for her beef with President Trump. And she now has a new ally among another of Trump’s media rivals: Snoop Dogg.

During a live CNN interview on Tuesday, Anderson Cooper played a video clip for Rapinoe of Snoop commenting on the pay disparities between men and women soccer players.

“Food for thought: Shout out to the USA Women’s Soccer Team for their fourth World Cup, but what I want to talk about is they only get $90,000 per player, but the men — if they win, they get $500,000 per player,” he said in the video.

“Sorry-ass fucking men from the US team may never win shit, ain’t ever win shit, can’t even get out the fucking first round,” Snoop continued. “Man, pay them ladies, man. Pay the girls what they’re worth.”

Cooper then jokingly asked Rapinoe if the Doggystyle mastermind should act as an equal-pay liaison on behalf of the Women’s Soccer Team. In March, the US Women’s Team, along with 28 other national women’s teams, filed a discrimination suit against the US Soccer Federation, which dictates payouts to players. The US Women’s Team and the federation have since moved into a mediation process to further negotiate.
