Former Massachusetts Rep. Barney Frank (D) has supported legalization of marijuana for over 45 years and gives his reasons why marijuana should be legal. Frank was one of the first in congress to introduce a bill to decriminalize marijuana in the U.S. in 1972. Frank has also been fighting for LGBT equality for years and spoke to MERRY JANE about his concerns for cannabis at the DNC.
Frank points out the breakthroughs in the LGBT community are similar to what the marijuana community is facing but that still not everyone in politics embraces either. He says that there were ridiculous predictions in the past of what social harms medical marijuana would bring to society but if not legalized then how would we know?
