As you may have heard, the entire Northeast got pounded with a pretty hefty blizzard over the past few days. And while residents of New York City, Boston and everywhere in between stocked up on weed, water, whiskey, and snacks, one Massachusetts store owner decided it was the perfect time for a few laughs.
For Dave Mech, the owner of marijuana-friendly garden supply store Potco, the blizzard became the perfect opportunity for a practical joke.
For promotional reasons, Mech is the proud owner of a costume he calls “Potsquatch”, a stoner yeti covered in fan leaves and dank buds. When Dave caught a glimpse of the news crew setting up their blizzard coverage, he donned the suit and started the clock on his 15 minutes of fame.
“I was in my store waiting for some people from New York and I saw them setting up,” Mech told The Huffington Post. “I saw the bushes behind them and it was just too perfect.”
Mech – or “Potsquatch” – found his way into the local weather report, and after a few stumbles and a minute hiding behind snow-covered bushes, Dave fell into a viral video.
“At one point, I had 1,000 hits on the video and thought, ‘Cool,’” Mech said. “I came back and it was at half a million.”
If the viral fame keeps up, Mech told the Huffington Post that he is already thinking about making a line of “Potsquatch” clothing.
