With the positive effects of medical marijuana becoming more widely accepted, new groups of hopefuls are turning towards the plant as a possible aid. Though no official scientific research has been completed, several daring parents have taken their previously hopeless situations into their own hands and found shockingly positive results from medical cannabis.

Marie Myung-Ok Lee, a professor at Brown, treated her son with synthetic cannabis and found his behavior switch from self-harming tendencies like banging his head on the wall to being able to ride a bike. Another autistic child with a severe case of autism, which prevented him from speaking, was treated twice a day with an oral dose of hemp seed oil. He soon spoke his first words.

Though doctors are still hesitant to recommend these unorthodox treatments because of the lack of scientific research backing them, many groups are beginning to notice the positive effects medical marijuana has on yet another group affected by a serious medical condition, and are approaching it with a positive, hopeful perspective.
