The tournament will take place on February 10 at the Anthem Golf and Country Club in Arizona, not far from the arena where the Super Bowl will be held two days later. But although weed is <a href=\"https:\/\/merryjane.com\/news\/arizona-sold-dollar755-million-worth-of-legal-weed-in-april-as-medical-cannabis-sales-slump\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><u>fully legal<\/u><\/a> in Arizona, public consumption remains prohibited. So, anyone who wants to light up during the game will have to keep it on the DL.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" frameborder=\"0\" width=\"640\" height=\"430\" scrolling=\"no\" src=\"https:\/\/merryjane.com\/embed\/gallery\/athletes-who-are-down-with-the-devils-lettuce\/1\" ><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The Gridiron Greats tournament doesn&#8217;t plan to stop players from smoking green on the green, though. McMahon and his team are advertising the event as the first open cannabis consumption golf tournament to be held in conjunction with the Super Bowl. In addition to smoking weed, attendees will also be treated to live entertainment, photo ops, and cannabis-themed talks.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis will be the first time at a Super Bowl golf event where cannabis will be readily consumed,\u201d said McMahon <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bizjournals.com\/phoenix\/news\/2023\/01\/31\/cannabis-companies-want-to-use-super-bowl-to-grow.html#:~:text=Cannabis%20companies%20are%20looking%20to,recreational%20cannabis%20use%20is%20legal.\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><u>to the <\/u><u><em>Phoenix Business Journal<\/em><\/u><\/a>. \u201cEverybody there will probably not be a cannabis user, and that is fine. I\u2019m trying to invite guys I know who are good guys and like to have a good time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The tournament is a charity event, and all proceeds will go to The Gridiron Greats Assistance Fund, a nonprofit that helps retired NFL players and family members who have fallen on hard times. McMahon and his partners will also be using the event to promote their own weed brand, Revenant. Each of the company&#8217;s three partners has personally used cannabis to help treat chronic pain, wean themselves off of addictive opioid pharmaceuticals, and to tackle insomnia and other issues.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" frameborder=\"0\" width=\"640\" height=\"430\" scrolling=\"no\" src=\"https:\/\/merryjane.com\/embed\/gallery\/did-you-know-these-celebrities-have-weed-brands\/undefined\" ><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur goal is to utilize our platform to send a strong message to the NFL, and other sports organizations that fail to recognize cannabis for medicinal purposes,\u201d McMahon <a href=\"https:\/\/azmarijuana.com\/arizona-medical-marijuana-news\/cannabis-advocate-and-superbowl-champion-to-host-arizona-celebrity-golf-classic\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><u>told <\/u><u><em>AZMarijuana<\/em><\/u><\/a>. \u201cThroughout our NFL careers and retirement, myself, Kyle Turley, and Eben Britton have witnessed first-hand the damaging effects of opioids and other harmful prescription medications on the bodies and minds of not only ourselves but fellow athletes alike.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are coming strong with an unrelenting commitment to resolve, aid and educate those who seek to take their lives back from mental or physical suffering of any kind, by using the cannabis plant,\u201d Turley said, <a href=\"https:\/\/azmarijuana.com\/arizona-medical-marijuana-news\/cannabis-advocate-and-superbowl-champion-to-host-arizona-celebrity-golf-classic\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><u>according to <\/u><u><em>AZMarijuana<\/em><\/u><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Many other <a href=\"https:\/\/merryjane.com\/health\/former-nba-player-al-harrington-debuts-new-line-of-cbd-pain-relief-products\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><u>famous athletes<\/u><\/a> have launched their own sports recovery-focused <a href=\"https:\/\/merryjane.com\/news\/nba-legend-paul-pierce-launches-athlete-focused-cbd-vape-line\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><u>cannabis brands<\/u><\/a> in the past few years as well. But although many of these companies are <a href=\"https:\/\/merryjane.com\/news\/nfl-legend-ricky-williams-launches-highsman-weed-brand\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><u>founded<\/u><\/a> by NFL legends like McMahon, the football league strictly <a href=\"https:\/\/merryjane.com\/news\/the-nfl-will-continue-to-ban-cannabis-ads-during-the-super-bowl\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><u>prohibits<\/u><\/a> any cannabis business from advertising during the Super Bowl.
