Cannabis has been cultivated in China for over 10,000 years, after early agricultural communities discovered that the plant could be used both for its strong fibers as well as its medicinal properties. But despite this long history, the Chinese government currently considers cannabis to be as dangerous as cocaine, and thoroughly prohibits its cultivation and use in any form. Cannabis is thriving in the country's underground, however, and groups like Wizman 420 are gathering in secret to share their mutual love of cannabis and its culture.

Wizman 420 — a crew of gamers, graphic artists, and stoners — are working to educate China about cannabis by creating comics, websites, clothing, and even their own dab rig. The collective's location in mainland China must remain a secret (because the information they distribute is illegal), but MERRY JANE News correspondent Christel Escosa managed to track down founders Alice and Yoda to discuss their plans to promote democracy through cannabis use, transforming the country into an “Oriental chill-land.”
