Ah, the good ol’ fashion skateboarding road trip. Since the inception of the pastime little, if anything, has ever really changed about the dynamics of traveling to skate. The concept is as simple as it gets—map out a route, get a van, load it up with your squad, and don’t forget your deck and wheels. You stop at every skatepark along the way, and pull over for any outstanding sights or possible spots to shred. Industry staple Girl Skateboards doesn’t reinvent the wheel with its brand-new video “When Nature Calls”, but it certainly does know how to make it fun!

Viewers can expect high-flying action to Girl squad members Cory Kennedy, Andrew Brophy, Sean Malto, Tyler Pacheco, Rick McCrank, and Simon Bannerot. Legendary bosses Rick Howard and Mike Carroll also get their fair share of cameos and tricks as the team pretty much rips the shit out of all sorts of far-out skateparks surrounded by forest and greenery, as well as country and roadside rails, gaps, barriers, and more.

Aesthetically, “When Nature Calls” is sprinkled with tons of analog visuals by way of Super 8mm. It may help to note that Kodak, yes the film company (no not the rapper) joined forces with Girl to sponsor this film, as well as collaborate on merch for the excursion and the accompanying promotion. We can totally see some picture-driven goods, perhaps even a visual book about the trip being released as a companion to the video. It appears our guess was close enough, as the Kodak collab is in sync with the company’s new Super 8mm camera release and both companies are capitalizing on the timing with boards and goods galore.

All in all this one feels like a very Boys of Summer ode to the season as it winds down and Fall begins to slowly prepare to creep its way forward. But before the leaves start to fall, it’s nice to be able to check a feature that really taps into the sights and sounds of the present instead of letting it all just quickly roll on by. It’s also a great motivational piece for those of us looking to pack up, get up, and get out on the road to see and skate more of life’s endless possibilities. Say cheese!
