According to a WWD report, it looks like Alexander Wang will be the latest fashion designer to ink a deal with adidas on a new clothing line. Wang follows the likes of a very elite list, including Rick Owens, Raf Simons, Yohji Yamamoto, Stella McCartney, Jeremy Scott, Kanye West, and Pharrell Williams, who all have their own collaborative labels with the Three Stripes.
Although details are mainly hush on the border of rumor and reality, this would mark a major grab for adidas, who looks to claw into Nike’s mammoth hold on the athletic market. Wang is one of the most relevant and influential designers of our day, and one who is a major proponent of sporty-lux style. He has also previously collaborated with H&M on an athletic collection, which sold out in mere minutes. Speculation is leading people to believe that both parties will unveil the new collection at Alexander Wang’s fashion show in New York on September 10.
