Whether he’s ditching a music video set or offering us a rare glipmpse at his inner demons, Young Thug is always consistent when it comes to releasing next level bangers fueled by his unorthodox flow.

It’s been a triumphant last year for Thugger, releasing his self-revealing album JEFFERY as well as featuring on a slew of fresh tracks, ranging from Kodak Black to Calvin Harris

With all of his recent success, it’s easy to forget that just a couple of years ago, the Atlanta rapper almost had his career stopped in its tracks by Georgia law enforcement. In July of 2015, Young Thug’s house in Sandy Springs—a suburban city right outside of Atlanta— was raided by police, who discovered both weapons and drugs on the premise.

The eccentric quick-spitter was charged with felony cocaine and marijuana possession, as well as three separate counts of felony gun possession. However, the District Attorney presiding over the case has now ruled in Thugger’s favor, claiming that the cops conducted the search without a proper warrant.

Interestingly enough, prior to Monday, the only felony charge that remained on his record was the one for marijuana possession. According to TMZ, Young Thug’s lawyers countered that this allegation should also be dropped, arguing again that the police overstepped their boundaries by illegally searching the rapper’s property.

Thanks to the police’s impatience, Young Thug remains free to keep spreading his joyful and uncanny sound across the airwaves. Although the rapper is usually booming with self-confidence and untamable bravado, he turned to Twitter to give a humble thanks for narrowly escaping the close call with the law.
