Whether he’s rolling one up or doing a finger roll into the hoop, Snoop Dogg is one of the most recognizable and admired rappers and marijuana advocates on the planet. But when he’s not busy touring or burning up a blunt, Snoop is focused on raising money and awareness for those who are in desperate need of it.
Snoop Dogg and former NBA veteran Morris Peterson hosted the “Hoop 4 Water” celebrity basketball game over the weekend at the Dort Federal Event Center in Flint, Michigan.
All proceeds from the game went to the Morris Peterson Jr. Foundation, which will use the raised funds to assist with the water relief efforts in the struggling town of Flint. For Snoop Dogg, although he certainly seemed to enjoy himself, the game was all about bringing attention to an issue that the media has been trying to keep under wraps.
"We do want to make sure that the mission is to fix this problem and don't forget about it," Snoop Dogg said. "We're not here just for fun and games, we're here for a bad situation that the media and America tends to sweep under the rug but we're here to pull the rug up. We want to fix this."
A handful of other celebrities took part in the charity game, including Detroit Lions tight end Eric Ebron, Harlem Globetrotters guard Carlos "Dizzy" English, Detroit rapper Trick Trick, pro boxer Anthony Dirrell, and many others.
The Big Ten Network will replay the entire game tonight at 8PM, check it out and see Snoop light it up from the court!
