The first state in the nation to legalize medical marijuana will in November vote to open a recreational market as well.

What once was called The Adult Use of Marijuana Act is now Proposition 64. With just four months away California residents will be able to finally vote to end marijuana prohibition on the November ballot and efforts to raise awareness about Prop 64 are at an all-time high.

“We are Prop 64 and we need your commitment now more than ever to make sure that we can reach out to California voters with everything we've got and get the votes needed to fix our broken system,” stated campaign manager, Brian Brokaw, in an e-mail. “There's no excuse for sitting on the sidelines while our environment gets destroyed, communities are unfairly impacted, and kids aren't protected from drugs.”

If passed Prop 64 would allow adults aged 21+ to possess marijuana legally and help raise up to $1 billion in new tax revenues annually. The revenue will be allotted to such services such as teen drug prevention and treatment and support economic development in communities disproportionately impacted by marijuana prohibition.
