Mexican Cartel Sent Hundreds of Pounds of Pot to Minnesota in New Ford Fusions

Three of the Fords had already been bought by Enterprise Car Rentals and sent to the airport carrying 40-50 pounds of bud in their spare tires.

In a criminal conspiracy straight from Breaking Bad’s cutting room floor, law enforcement officials in Minnesota have discovered over 1,100 pounds of marijuana sent through brand new Ford Fusions. The weed was apparently packed at the automotive plant in Mexico where the cars were put together, and sent to the U.S. by El Chapo’s Sinaloa cartel.

According to an incredibly deep dive by Alpha News, Ford Fusions packed with 40-50 pounds of bricked up weed have been popping up at rail yards and car dealerships around Minnesota.

In February two cars hot off the rails from the Ford factory in Hermosillo, Senora, Mexico were going through normal inspections at a vehicle loading lot in St. Paul, MN when employees discovered bricks of weed in the Fusions’ spare tire wells.

Investigators found about 80 pounds of ganja between the two cars and suspect that the trees were likely put there by cartel members disguised as Ford employees. The drugs were presumably supposed to have been retrieved once they crossed the border into the U.S., but it appears that someone really screwed that part of the job up.

But before the inspectors could pat themselves on the back, they realized that the two cars they had just stripped were the last of a load of 15 Fords, 13 of which had already been distributed to dealerships and car rental locations around the state.

One of those cars had already been purchased by an 87 year-old man in Rochester, MN, and three of the Fusions were sent to the Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport to be rented out from the Enterprise lot.

Over the span of a month, authorities were able to recover the cars before any lucky traveler found the hidden bounty, and found 40-60 pounds of flower in each car.

Still, one Rochester cop was willing to admit that this isn’t the first time this has happened, and it won’t be the last.

“I was told by SPPD that this is pretty typical,” Rochester Police Detective John Sherwin told Alpha News, “Drugs often come into the US with imported consumer goods.”

You heard the man, next time you fly in for the Minnesota State Fair, the Vikings home opener or a trip to the Mall of America, make sure your rental is a Ford Fusion and DEFINITELY make sure you check the spare tire - it could pay for your trip, and then some.
