As the stigma surrounding cannabis dissipates in light of expansive cannabis legalization throughout the United States, the holiday season has been a fruitful one for the marijuana industry, particularly for delivery services. Fuled by unavoidable holiday stress and gift-wrapping season, the cannabis delivery industry has been busier than ever. With New Year’s around the corner, delivery sales are only expected to increase.

According to data recently gathered by the California-based cannabis technology and delivery service Eaze, the final stretch of the 2016 has brought in some monumental business numbers. Compared to their yearly averages, Eaze’s financial data shows that marijuana deliveries increased 22% on December 23, jumped an additional 6% on Christmas Eve, and took a 10% dip on Christmas Day before increasing 23% on December 26.

With the lucrative holiday season coming to a close, the cannabis delivery company expects an even brighter segue into 2017. Last year, Eaze saw a 71% uptick in deliveries on December 31 and a 41% on the first day of the New Year. As cannabis rapidly approaches the social acceptance level of alcohol, the reason for this increase over New Year’s is likely because some are looking to cannabis as a celebratory substance. One can imagine it might also be a wonderful way to nurse the inevitable hangover following a wild NYE.

Delivery services like Eaze have capitalized on the legal market by quickly and conveniently delivering medical marijuana straight to your doorstep. But be forewarned, if you’re hoping to score some cannabis on New Year’s, you might want to avoid the busy rush by placing your order as early as possible.
