Well folks, we’re just one day away from the end of what is the most unpopular presidential election in the history of the United States, and if you’re a supporter of Hillary Clinton (or just vehemently against Donald Trump), this unprecedented circus looks to be ending on a high note.
While Clinton has been clinging to her narrowing lead in the polls over the last few weeks, Trump was given a boost when the FBI recently decided to reopen their investigation of Clinton’s infamous emails just a week before the election. The decision to look back into the case came after the FBI discovered more potential evidence on a computer belonging to disgraced former U.S. Rep Anthony Weiner, who was being investigated himself for allegedly sending dick pics to a 15-year-old girl.
All the while, the reinvigorated email scandal has helped Trump slip into the shadows, away from his own troubling allegations which include everything from fraud to child rape. Thankfully for the Clinton team, the FBI announced over the weekend that they had affirmed their previous decision to not charge Hillary over her emails, allowing Democrats to head to the voting booth tomorrow with a more clear conscience.
"Since my letter, the FBI investigative team has been working around the clock to process and review a large volume of emails from a device obtained in connection with an unrelated criminal investigation," FBI Director James Comey wrote this past Sunday. “Based on our review, we have not changed our conclusions that we expressed in July with respect to Secretary Clinton.”
According to FBI sources, the contents of Weiner’s computer were already discovered back in July, which led them to clear Clinton of any intentional wrongdoing at the time. Though having her name cleared again should help her maintain her slight edge shown in the polls, Republicans haven’t shied away from attacking the Democratic nominee since the investigation was briefly reopened.
On Sunday evening, at a rally in Michigan, Trump continued to attack Clinton about the email scandal, claiming that “she's being protected by a rigged system” and that the you “can't review 650,000 new emails in eight days”. Similar attacks have come from Trump’s vice presidential nominee Mike Pence as well as House Speaker Paul Ryan. At the end of the day, the FBI made the critical decision to end the scandal before the election, especially as many on the Democratic side were criticizing Comey's motives for reopening the case so close to Election Day.
