The latest incident in the Chris Brown saga, which happened a few weeks ago in his Los Angeles mansion, began when model Baylee Curran accused Brown of pointing a weapon directly in her face after getting angered that she admired one of his friend’s diamond necklaces. Subsequently, the model’s call to 911 led to a police standoff outside of Brown’s residence, once again bringing the pop star into the eyes of the mainstream media in a negative light.
But, perhaps Chris Brown actually learned his lesson this time around, as he’s now decided to implement strict house party rules to ensure that the situation with Curran and the police never happens again. According to TMZ, Brown will now closely monitor house guests lists and not letting anyone random onto his property. According to Brown, the whole recent dilemma stemmed from his two best friends/roommates allowing Curran and her friend onto the premises.
Now, Brown will require his roomies to fully detail each person they wish to have over, giving Brown the final word on whether or not they’re welcome into his house. Additionally, no guests will be allowed to being alcohol or drugs into his crib. Brown’s crackdown on his house party rules may show the singer in a paranoid light, but after having the police barricade him in his house, it’s understandable why he’d want to enforce some stricter rules about who comes onto his property.
In the meantime, Brown’s longtime lawyer, Mark Geragos, has claimed that Curran’s allegations against the pop star are completely fabricated, and that Brown has been fully cooperating with the police investigation. It remains to be seen whether Brown is innocent or not, but recent findings about the accusing party have many questioning the legitimacy of the model’s accusations. According to the Los Angeles Times, Curran and a friend were wanted for questioning by the NYPD stemming from an alleged purse theft at the Plaza Hotel in 2013. Additionally, she was ‘dethroned’ after being crowned as Miss California Regional 2016 due to a so-called ‘internal inquiry’.
According to jail records, Brown has not been charged in his latest controversy, and his arraignment is scheduled for September 20. As Brown looks to overcome the latest hurdle in his infamously successful career, he certainly seems to be taking some major steps to make sure his house parties don’t merit a police standoff ever again.

Love or hate his music, there’s one thing we can probably all agree on, Chris Brown just can not manage to keep himself out of trouble. The R&B star has a long history filled with controversial behavior and disturbing accusations of violence, and although it seemed like he might have been getting his act together as of late, Brown is in hot water with law enforcement once again.
In an interview with E! News Wednesday, model Baylee Curran accused Brown of pointing a weapon directly in her face after getting angered that she admired one of his friend’s diamond necklaces. According to the model, Brown’s associates began chasing Curran and her friend after they refused to sign a nondisclosure agreement about the event that transpired, but they were able to evade them by hiding under a neighbor’s SUV. This was not Curran’s first time at Brown’s residence, she had reportedly been to his house in the past without encountering any trouble.
After Brown was reported for assault with a deadly weapon, flocks of police cars gathered around Brown’s Los Angeles mansion around 3 a.m., leading to a shocking standoff between police and the R&B singer. As police barricaded the outside of his gated entrance, Brown began posting to social media, and even proclaimed his innocence in an Instagram post.
‘‘Y'all gonna stop playing with me like I'm the villain out here, like I'm going crazy,’’ Brown said in an Instagram video. ‘‘When you get the warrant or whatever you need to do, you’re going to walk right up in here and you’re going to see nothing. You idiots.’’
Ironically enough, once the police waited out the 14-hour-long standoff and obtained a warrant, it seems that they did indeed find something incriminating. Although it’s unclear what the police retrieved from the property, one source claimed that a duffel bag was tossed from a window, and reportedly contains evidence related to the case. Eventually, Brown was taken into custody, and was subsequently released from jail late Tuesday night after posting $250,000 bail.
Although the details of the case are still unclear, the event does not bode well for Brown, who has had a number of run-ins with the law in his recent past. Back in 2009, Brown and his then-girlfriend, the internationally acclaimed singer Rihanna, had an argument that escalated to physical abuse by Brown, who left noticeable facial injuries on her face. Brown was arrested for domestic violence, and his career began to look dim as he lost commercial advertisements and became the most hateable man in the music industry.
After getting charged with felony assault and making criminal threats, Brown pleaded guilty to to plea deal that required five years of probation, community service, and domestic violence counseling. Brown went on a public apology spree after the awful event unfolded, making a YouTube video for his fans and appearing on Larry King Live with his mother and attorney by his side.
But, the apology tour didn’t last very long for Brown, who in 2011, went on Good Morning America and was asked about the Rihanna situation. The sensitive subject ended up enraging Brown, and during a commercial break, he confronted the show staff and threw and damaged a window at the show’s Times Square Studio. Additionally, word got out that Brown was kicked out of his rehab program after throwing a brick through his mother’s car window. The following year, Brown received backlash after getting what many assumed was the face of a battered woman tattooed on his neck, though he maintains that the ink represents a sugar skull.
Less than a year after that, Brown and his crew got into a parking lot scuffle with famed R&B singer Frank Ocean outside of a Los Angeles studio. Then, Brown was slapped with a hit-and-run charge, which was later dismissed after he reached a “civil compromise” with the accuser. In 2014, Brown once again pleaded guilty to assault for a fight that took place outside of a hotel room in Washington D.C.
Prior to the most recent assault accusations lodged by Curran, Brown’s old manager Michael Guirguis filed a lawsuit against the singer for attacking him back in May. Now, with the latest assault accusation and standoff with police, it seems that Brown’s boatload of poor and despicable decisions may finally be catching up to him. As talented and wealthy as he may be, the singer just can’t seem to shake away the anger problems that have plagued him throughout his career.
Although he has yet to be formally charged for the latest arrest, Brown is scheduled to appear in court for arraignment on September 20, which is likely where the decision on whether to file charges or not will take place.
