Until very recently, The Avalanches had not released any music for the past 16 years, the last being their critically acclaimed debut album Since I Left You. That all changed this past July, as they finally released their sophomore effort Wildflower to much fanfare and delight. It picks up right where their first release left off, but also slips seamlessly into today’s landscape by surprisingly collaborating with Danny Brown.

On Tuesday, they released the kaleidoscopic visual accompaniment to the single “Subways,” and it definitely a treat for the eyes. Animated and directed by Mrzyk and Moriceau, the duo previously responsible for Sebastien Tellier’s “Look” video, the video seemingly channels some modern Yellow Submarine inspired vibes and follows a colorful cast of imaginary characters that ironically capture the chaos of the NYC Subway system quite accurately.

One thing is for sure, it looks an infinite amount more fun than waiting on a sweaty platform on a hot summer’s day.

Watch the entertaining “Subways” video.
