Curious to know the effects of legalizing medical marijuana for the younger population? Far from the stereotypical image of kids running around rampantly high, a new study has shown that states which have legalized medical use of cannabis actually had higher rates of teenage marijuana use before the policy change when compared to other states that still uphold marijuana as illegal.

Over one million teens were surveyed in 48 different states and researchers adjusted for factors that have been proven to correlate and affect marijuana use (gender, parent education level, urban or rural area). None of the results showed an increase in usage following the legalization of medical marijuana.
