While REM sleep only constitutes about 19% of a night of sleep, it plays an important role in how your body recharges itself. Disrupting this cycle may cause REM rebound, which occurs when your body has to catch up to missed cycles. This may seem like a problem if you treasure full-body rejuvenation, but it might be a good option for those who have trouble sleeping due to vivid nightmares or sleep terrors.
Sleep terrors are frightening, especially if they occur on a regular basis. While many treat them as a mental disorder and recommend seeing a counselor, there are very few ways to provide a quick or temporary fix.
