Young Futura Team Up with Bonkers Dancer for Funky “Slide” Music Video

“An energetic dance song driven by a repetitive driving beat as an undertone with a smooth lyrical delivery that instills movement into your mind."

Young Futura is a duo comprised of Washington, D.C. rapper Beau Young Prince and French producer Futura, who made beats for artists such as Lloyd Banks and Asher Roth under his former YMNO moniker. About a year ago, the guys linked up for bouncy dance rap track “Gypsy Woman,” and one EP later, they’re still at it.

“Slide” is a track taken from that EP (entitled Patience), and today Young Futura have shared a music video starring talented young dancer Stephane Deheselle. In it, Deheselle begins by mimicking the song’s “Cha Cha Slide”-style dance directions, but soon goes off on his own, showing just how fluid the human body can be. In front of some perfectly curated, Wes Anderson-colored backdrops, we follow him as he dances all over Paris.

In a statement shared with The FADER, Young Futura described the track: "'Slide' is an energetic dance song driven by a repetitive driving beat as an undertone with a smooth lyrical delivery that instills movement into your mind." In this regard, “Slide” would fit nicely alongside recent music from Goldlink, Kaytranada, Buddy, and other artists who bridge the gap between dance and rap.

Oddly enough, it’s the third pop-rap track with that title that we’ve heard this summer. First off, obviously, was Calvin Harris’ undeniable team-up with Migos and Frank Ocean, and then just last week, Portland’s Aminé included an ebullient track called “Slide” on his debut album, Good For You. Issa trend.
