Demand for cannabis — both legal and on the black market — is high. Like, even higher than you get when your edibles kick in on a red-eye flight.

A recent study in Marijuana Business Daily shows that the demand for weed is so great that its sales could rake in an estimated $45–$50 billion. Although federally hamstrung, the cannabis industry’s profits already eclipse those of several popular goods, which has experts predicting that cannabis could dwarf some of the nation’s best-selling products (hello, ice cream) and pastimes if federally legalized.
