Watch A Blind Skateboarder Skate Better Than You Probably Can

It takes more than an eye disease to keep Dan Mancina from ripping.

Despite some destructive stigmas and stereotypes, skateboarding is by nature an act of grace and thanks. No matter how explosive in physics or aggressive in attitude, the very idea of defying gravity to create art takes a special kind of humility. Now, imagine doing it blindly and how dedicated you’d have to be to take that on. That is exactly what skateboarder Dan Mancina does every time he decides to step out and push.

A new interview with Jenkem Magazine highlights Dan’s visual condition (Retinitis Pigmentosa, a hereditary degenerative eye disease) along with his newly defined approach to skateboarding. The feature highlights how he uses an extended walking stick and sound to assist his shredding. It’s an uncommon (and ingenious) way to skate, but the results speak for themselves, as Mancina lands tricks like crooked grinds and nollie heels better than most.

Check him out here and marvel for yourselves, it’ll make you never complain about the “shitty run-up” at a spot ever again.
