Hartford, Connecticut, you’re up next for The High Road Summer Tour. Roll those jays and pack those bowls because Snoop and Wiz mean biz.  

The Connecticut music scene is surely one of the most diverse in the nation. The state has introduced us to talent boasting multiple musical styles including jazz, classical, hip-hop, and rock outfits.  

The Constitution State has introduced us to Keith Richards (Rolling Stones), Rivers Cuomo (Weezer), Chris Carrabba (Dashboard Confessional), The Carpenters, Billy Kottage (Reel Big Fish), Hatebreed, MGMT, Mark McGrath (Sugar Ray), Moby, and more.  

The state’s entertainment destinations include clubs and bars packed with music and dancing or the party may be brought into an open field where locals will blast music and light up some bon fires. Bridgeport, Connecticut is also home to the longest running amusement park in the United States.

The state boasts an admirably vibrant micro-brew scene to wash down some of the most succulent seafood in the country. Residents are also caught between the longtime heated feud between the Boston Red Sox and the New York Yankees but can all agree on UCONN’s basketball team.

Here are some things to keep in mind when sparking up a spliff in the Nutmeg State:

1. The state has decriminalized cannabis to some degree for first time offenders.

2. Getting caught with less than half an ounce of cannabis for the first time will land you a civil penalty of $150 while all subsequent offenses will increase to $500.

3. .5 to 4oz of weed is a misdemeanor that will land you 1 year behind bars with a $1,000 fine. Future offenses are a felony that can give someone up to 5 years of incarceration and a $3,000 fine.

4. Getting caught with hash or concentrates has the same penalty as flower.

5. Any item used for cultivation or distribution of the plant (including your ride) is subject to forfeiture!

6. Connecticut does have a legal hemp industry.

7. The state has legalized the medical use of cannabis for qualifying patients who receive a diagnosis from a state-licensed physician.

8. Qualifying conditions eligible for a medical marijuana referral include those with cancer, glaucoma, HIV, AIDS, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, epilepsy, Crohn’s disease, and PTSD (among a few others).
