From its sleek decor and open floor plan to the precisely-placed tablets, MedMen’s newly opened West Hollywood-flagship collective is like the Apple store for medical weed.

At MedMen, all adults 18 and up can stop in, smell some strains, and educate themselves on the benefits of cannabis. Patients with their medical marijuana recommendation can then order their bud from iPads which is prepared in an adjacent open room and hand delivered with swift perfection.

With dozens of new products flooding the market on the daily, Josh who curates MedMen’s inventory shares with MERRY JANE the stringent process of picking the perfect product for each of the collective’s locations.

MERRY JANE: How does MedMen differ from other collectives?

Josh: We have really high standards when it comes to the products we carry. We also cultivate our own flower, which allows customers the chance to get “Top-shelf” for a more affordable price.

MJ: With so many new products flooding the legal marijuana market, how do you decide what to carry?

J: There are a variety of factors including consumer feedback and the overall quality of the product. We’ve established great relationships with vendors and growers and this helps us ensure we can offer quality products to our patients.

MJ: You now have two locations and are preparing to open a third. How does location factor into what you carry?

J: It differs from flowers to edibles to tinctures and concentrates. For flower, it really depends on the neighborhood. Certain locations have a different taste for different products. For instance here in West Hollywood sativa strains like Jack Herer, Trainwreck, and AK-47 are really popular while at our shop in the Valley, patients are almost exclusively looking for OG Kush, or other indicas.

MJ: You have a wide variety of edibles. What are some of the most popular products you recommend?

J: We have patients who come in who are interested in microdosing (taking small doses of edibles spaced out throughout the day) and Kaya Caramels are consistent for that. They have one called “Full Upright Position”, it's only 5 mg but has a lot of good essential oils. We’ve also started carrying Kaneh Co which has some of the best packaging on the market.

June 10-12 is LA Pride music festival and the annual Pride parade. MedMen will have a booth at LA Pride Music Festival so be sure to stop by and say hello. Tell them MERRY JANE sent you!
