The past few weeks have been a whirlwind of benevolence for the lyrical and sonic guild known as A Tribe Called Quest. Following the release of their #1 album We Got It From Here, a monumental appearance on SNL, and the late-great Phife Dawg being honored with a street co-named after him in NYC, it appears that there’s more in store.

Before the street naming ceremony, which took place in Phife’s neighborhood of Saint Albans in Queens, his wife Desha Head Taylor took some time to chop it up with the fans, friends, and family in attendance. Okayplayer reports that this was when she dropped some interesting news:

“His solo album will be out probably sometime during the first quarter of 2017. We’re working on it now,” she said. “He completed his entire solo album before he transitioned, so we’re excited about releasing that.”

2017 is right around the corner and considering the response to Phife’s offerings on Tribe’s final album, listeners are hungry for more.
