New York Fashion Week kicked off with an unoffical battle of the old guard vs the new.
On one side is legendary designer Tom Ford, who debuted his second film, Nocturnal Animals at the Venice Film Festival receiving a five-star review from The Guardian and emerging as an Oscar contender.
Then, we have Kanye West. Fresh off of his Saint Pablo tour, Yeezy made history at Madison Square Garden moving $740,000 worth of merchandise in a single night.
At NYFW, West and Ford boasted equally ambitious and iconic offerings in their own right, fighting for a piece of the fashion pie.
A Jay-Z favorite and red carpet staple, Ford re-opened the now closed and iconic Four Seasons Restaurant for a dinner theater fashion show with a star studded guest list. In attendace was songstress Alicia Keys, supermodels Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford and Iman, actors Tom Hanks, Uma Thurman, Jon Hamm, Neil Patrick Harris, Julianne Moore, Rita Ora and Joel Edgerton and Vogue editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour.
Earlier in the day on a scorching afternoon, Kanye West shuttled bloggers and editors from Manhattan to Roosevelt Island to showcase his much anticipated (and dare we say poorly received) Yeezy Season 4 collection. Sitting front row were the Kardashian/Jenner clan, rappers Tyga, Fabolous, 2 Chainz and Pusha T as well as actor Terrence Jenkins and film director Spike Jonez.
Both designers knew how to garner attention by pulling out all of the stops to get people talking, whether good or bad. Kanye kicked off his media train by casting only "multiracial" women in his show. Tom Ford on the other hand announced that his collection would be available for purchase the very next day.

I Don't Pop Molly, I Rock Tom Ford

Employees Only @ J.Crew
"We were inspired by the real people who wear J.Crew. People in the office, friends, family, who all bring the clothes to life through their own personal style. And we wanted to honor that by doing the show with them, which is something that feels very us. And just kind of fun.” —Somsack, our head of women’s design. #jcrewnyfw
While most brands spent big bucks casting professional models for their presentations during NYFW, J.Crew decided to recruit its own employees to showcase its spring/summer 2017 collection.
Can I Have Some Fries with my Wang?
Alexander Wang's parties are a must attend each season and this year he didn't disappoint. There was a 7-11 truck where models and guests ransacked shelves of free M&Ms and Sour Patch Kids by the handful; an adjacent truck served up Slurpees, accessorized with glow stick straws. #Wangfest also served up McDonald’s hamburgers and fries. Even Madonna got in on the action.
Rihanna Twerks at Bergdorfs
Rihanna shut down the iconic Bergdorf Goodman department store for the launch of her FENTY® PUMA® by Rihanna. Leave it to Bad Girl RiRi to twerk while showcasing her collection, which is now sold out.
Models couldn't walk in some of the Yeezy Season 4 collection. One even broke her heel, took her shoes off and made her way barefoot down the runway.
Taylor Swift Resurfaces after her Takedown
Kim Kardashian orchestrated the ultimate Taylor Swift takedown this summer after she revealed on Snapchat that Taylor lied about giving approval to Kanye for his infamous "Famous" lyrics. Following her breakup from her three-month beau Tom Hiddleston, she gathered her "Squad" to cheer on bestie Gigi Hadid at the Tommy Hilfiger show. What makes this moment even more cringeworthy is the fact that she's bobbing her head to the song that cost her the year-long relationship with Calvin Harris.
