Mother's Day is almost here, and we gotta give up to moms everywhere: you gave us life, love, and so much more. At MERRY JANE, we have a resident mom columnist who doles out smoking advice on a weekly basis, but we wanted to take a look at some of our other favorite mothers who get down with weed.

While smoking with your parents can be a tricky and awkward affair, there’s something special about living in an age where sharing a joint with mom or dad isn’t that big of a taboo. That goes double for celebrity parents, whose actions are scrutinized by the public at every turn. So below, we’re highlighting a few famous marijuana mamas who deserve some extra props (and definitely a nice ganja gift) this upcoming Sunday.

Whoopi Goldberg

Whoopi is not just one of our favorite moms, she's also one of our fav grandmothers and great-grandmothers who is down with cannabis! Yes! Whoopi is a great-grandmother if you can believe it. Maybe it's all the cannabis self-care? While Whoopi is certainly well-known for her illustrious acting career and 10-year stint as a co-host of ABC's The View, she's also a powerhouse when it comes to cannabis.

Alongside notable edibles superstar Maya Elisabeth, Whoopi runs Whoopi & Maya, a medical cannabis line with products specifically engineered to help women during their menstrual cycle. Not only does Whoopi enjoy cannabis herself, she actively promotes the healing power of the plant to other moms and women. Her line includes infused salves, bath soaks, edibles, and tinctures.

Martha Stewart

The Queen of Crafts is no stranger to marijuana (and not just because she hangs out with Snoop!). In addition to co-hosting Martha and Snoop's Potluck Dinner Party on VH1 — where you just know she must regularly get a contact highMartha has admitted to her A+ joint rolling skills. Would you expect anything less from a woman who pays such perfect attention to detail? And, if we know Martha, it’s only a matter of time until she’s growing her own organic, heirloom strains in her gorgeous garden!

Melissa Etheridge

Musician Melissa Etheridge has been open about about her marijuana use since her breast cancer diagnosis in 2004. A proponent of pot for medical and recreational use, Melissa hasn't shied away from talking about how much cannabis helped her manage her cancer and treatment symptoms, as well as stay healthy during remission. Recently, Etheridge made waves when she talked about smoking weed with her kids (who are in their late teens and twenties), and maintains it's a family bonding experience. Taking a cue from fellow marijuana moms like Whoopi, Melissa is currently working on her own line of cannabis products, and hopefully we'll be able to try them soon.

Frances McDormand

Actress Frances McDormand is a bona fide marijuana mama — and she isn't shy about it. The Oscar winner for Best Actress has admitted to smoking cannabis and openly talks about the medical and recreational benefits of the plant. In fact, she was on the cover of the May 2003 issue of High Times. Frances told the magazine, "I’m a recreational pot smoker. Because it’s not a constant in my life, I don’t say it should be made legal so it’s more available. But from a medical point of view… why should [patients] have to look too hard for the thing that makes them better? So from that point of view, it’s like, Please, what is the problem?"

Alanis Morissette

The Jagged Little Pill mastermind opened up about her cannabis habits to High Times in 2009. "I literally want to write a chart that says things like 'Marijuana soothes this particular thing' and 'Food soothes that.' We can serve a great purpose if we can get to what’s going on underneath.” Though she has two kids — son Ever and daughter Onyx — Alanis has said she didn't smoke during either of her pregnancies. And while she hasn't been as vocal about her cannabis use these days as she was in the past, it's clear that the plant definitely influenced her career. Who could forget her brief stint on Weeds?

Honorable Mention: Anne Hathaway

New mom and actress Anne Hathaway (her son Jonathan is just over a year old) recently came out of the cannabis closet on Bravo's Watch What Happens Live. Annie coyly shared her penchant for pot with host Andy Cohen, which was her first time publicly talking about using marijuana. Perhaps the first time of many? Anyway, a big happy Mother's Day to all these celebrity moms. You make Hollywood a greener and more fun place.
