After Scott Mescudi (better known under his stage name, Kid Cudi) grabbed the attention of Kanye West in 2008 with his first mixtape A Kid Named Cudi, the Cleveland-bred rapper instantly became one of the most well-rounded and artistically gifted newcomers on the hip hop circuit. Upon signing to Kanye’s all-star label, GOOD Music, Cudi gained critical acclaim with the Man on the Moon saga, two separate albums that both helped solidify Kid Cudi as an indubitable superstar.

After the release of Man on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager, Cudi went in a completely new direction, starting up a rock band with his fellow associate Dot da Genius that was dubbed WZRD. Since then, Cudi has been teetering back and forth between his hip hop talents and aspirations of becoming a rockstar, releasing a string of records that feature him on guitar, most of which were received with mixed reviews, but showcased Cudi in a new, more confident light.

But, even the earliest fans should be expecting great things from Mescudi in the very near future. Cudi seems to have gotten back into form through recent collaborations with his protégé Travi$ Scott (who admitted to crying upon meeting Cudi for the first time) and the one and only Kanye West. This week, Kid Cudi took to Twitter to announce that his newest album, which has yet to be officially named, will be coming out by the end of the month.

According to Cudi’s Twitter, he is currently working on a September release date for his forthcoming 18-track album, which will be a double disc record that contains over an hour-and-a-half of music. Cudi also claimed that the album will not be exclusive to one streaming platform, but instead will be available on all of them, as well as in physical format too.

“Music shouldn't be a headache to find especially in a digital space. It's actually easier going to Best Buy to get a CD than it is to DL one,” Cudi wrote in one of his Tweets.

Regardless of what you think about Cudi’s more recent guitar-driven music, diehard fans should be hyped about what direction the unpredictable artist is prepared to head in now. If his recent work on Travi$ Scott’s new album is any indication, we might just get some of the classic Cudi smoothness on the forthcoming album.
