Since Atlanta-based rapper Gucci Mane was released from prison back in May, the trap house legend has fully reminded us that he is one of hip-hop’s realest storytellers. After dropping the critically acclaimed album Everybody Looking back inin July, Gucci put out WOPTOBER just a few months later. To add his already rather prolific run, he also released a surprise collab mixtape with Future, and is rumored to be working with Drake on a joint EP called The 6ers

If you thought Guwop season was over for the year, you’ve got a dope surprise coming straight down your chimney. Just in the nick of time for the holiday season, Gucci Mane is blessing us his third studio album of the year, The Return of East Atlanta Santa. However, don’t be fooled by the title, there’s no Christmas carols on this joint, as entertaining as that may sound.

Instead, Gucci fans are being treated to a 13-track sonic winter wonderland filled with revelations about the Atlanta-based rappers’ past struggles with substance abuse and his experiences as a drug peddler. The Return of East Atlanta Santa includes a number of high-powered features, including appearances from Drake, Travis Scott, and R&B up-and-comer Bryson Tiller.

The duet with the Drizzy, “Both,” is a menacingly smooth single that leaves you salivating for the duo’s highly anticipated joint EP. The track, produced by heavy-hitters Southside and Metro Boomin, once again proves that Gucci is keeping his sound as fresh as ever. Lines like “I look like half a million worth of heroin when she look at me” drive the point home even harder.

Another highlight off of Gucci’s latest album is the already released single “Last Time”, a typically icy track featuring Travis Scott. The song was recently given a snowed-out music video directed by renowned indie director Harmony Korine.

You can stream The Return of East Atlanta Santa now on Apple Music.
