On Nov. 8, Maine will vote on the Maine Marijuana Legalization Measure, commonly known as Question 1. With enough yes votes, the state will legalize, regulate, and tax recreational cannabis.

Despite strong support, some people worry that legalizing recreational use could adversely affect the medical marijuana system and patients, but Glenn Peterson, longtime advocate and owner of the Canuvo dispensary in Biddeford, Maine, supports the initiative and sees it as beneficial for everyone. And that includes residents who have nothing to do with cannabis.

MERRY JANE sat down with Peterson to discuss how Question 1 would affect state revenues, dispensary businesses, and availability to medical patients, as well as patients’ preferred forms of treatment and the how the “miracle plant” can supplant a smorgasbord of pharmaceutical products. Watch the video to see why he’s voting yes on 1.
