Sorry Goof Troop, Disney World Adds Marijuana to Banned Items List

Medical marijuana may be legal in Florida, but the “Happiest Place on Earth” isn’t living up to its name.

Let’s be real, there hasn’t been much to celebrate in Orlando since Shaq left the Magic. Thanks to a voter passed amendment last year though, medical marijuana is now legal in Florida, and things have finally been looking up in the Sunshine State (if lawmakers don't completely botch writing the regulations).

But when one door opens, another one apparently closes, and a new change to the Disney World park rules is crushing the dreams of rollercoaster loving potheads across the Everglades.

According to local Orlando NBC channel WESH, the Happiest Place on Earth has changed their banned items list to include the newly legal medical weed.

"Although some states have legalized marijuana for medicinal or recreational use, marijuana remains illegal under federal law," a Disney spokesperson told the local news station. "We are revising our rules to clarify that marijuana is not permitted on our property."

To be fair, the banned items list already featured “alcohol and any other illegal substance” right next to skateboards and drones, and it wasn’t like anyone expected Mickey and Co. to open up a dab bar next to Splash Mountain, but it is unclear if the new specification will lead to increased searches at the park.

“The extent that they'd go through someone's personal belongings to search for that, I think that's when the public might start having an issue with it." Cannabis advocate and attorney Matt Morgan told WESH news.

But no matter the park rules, thanks to edibles, topicals, vaporizers and good old fashioned stoner ingenuity, we’re pretty sure that people will continue to enjoy the Spinning Teacups...on weed!
