Cannabis Users Prefer Coca-Cola Over Pepsi, Study Finds
“Can’t beat the feeling!”

Cannabis users prefer Coca-Cola to the other leading brands of soda, according to the latest research from Consumer Research Around Cannabis and Green Market Report.

A recent analysis of around 27,503 people found more than 32 percent of the nation’s cannabis community would rather have Coca-Cola than any other soft drink. Not surprisingly, however, Pepsi came in a close second, with around 24 percent of the respondents claiming it as their favorite.

Dr. Pepper, Mountain Dew and Sprite were close competitors, ranking in at 13, 12 and 11 percent, respectively.

Researchers say they were not at all surprised by the results, mostly because “Coca-Cola is perhaps the most well-known brand in the world, and they have tremendous distribution.”

“Coke is the clear winner over Pepsi with cannabis consumers. That may be because it is the soda sold at McDonald’s, which we found out last week is their overwhelming choice for fast food,” said Debra Borchardt, CEO of Green Market Report.

Last week, a similar survey found that McDonald’s was the fast food joint of choice among members of the cannabis community, followed by Taco Bell and Wendy’s. Researchers believe it was the restaurant chain’s vast number of locations that made it frontrunner for stoners on the prowl for fast food.

Soda companies might start to consider cannabis users when marketing new, healthier products, as nationwide soda sales continue to decline, researcher said. Many beverage companies are now looking to transition from only selling soda to other products, like juices and teas.

In fact, Coca-Cola CEO, James Quincey, recently said “consumers are looking for products that are more natural…at times with less sugar. Sometimes with more benefits.”

The multi-billion dollar company is reportedly already in the process of reducing sugar in hundreds of its products.
