Uncle Snoop chops it up with 21 Savage on "GGN."
Published on October 2, 2017

21 Savage is lucky to be alive, let alone making hit records and enjoying the good life with model/actress Amber Rose at his side. On October 22, 2013, his 21st birthday, the gang-affiliated Atlanta rapper was famously hit six times — including once in the neck — in a shooting that claimed the life of his best friend. He survived with a hardened attitude, but when another close friend was killed the following March, he decided to start rapping in pursuit of a better life.

Now just 24, 21 Savage considers himself “chosen.” After releasing his debut single, the DJ Plugg-produced “Picky,” in 2014, he made waves in 2015 with his mixtapes The Slaughter Tape and Slaughter King and his Free Guwop EP, which he recorded with Sonny Digital in tribute to an incarcerated Gucci Mane. In summer 2016, with buzz already building, he dropped Savage Mode, his collaborative EP with producer Metro Boomin, and notched his first platinum single, “X.” Having become a household name, he signed to Epic Records in January 2017 and dropped his debut album, Issa Album, in July.

With his latest hit, “Bank Account,” creeping up the charts and giving him a life he once could only dream of, 21 Savage dropped by the GGN studios to talk to Uncle Snoop about ways to get out of the dead-end streets, investing in your own business, their mutual love of R&B, and hooking up with famous women.
