American skateboarder Tom Knox recently threw down with a few friends in Britain’s tourist-laden St. Paul’s Cathedral in London, and “Atlantic Drift Episode 2” is the dreamy and incredibly-edited result of the action that went down.
Filmed by Jacob Harris and scored to Light Asylum’s “A Certain Person”, the six and a half minute montage is a refreshing reminder of how good, creative skateboarding in one centralized location can make for captivating footage.
The location itself, renowned by locals who’ve earned their skate stripes there, is actually a busy hot spot for travelers and visitors of the area, which makes things a bit tricky for skateboarding, to say the least. But thanks to the resilience that we know all true skate rats have, the site is also, on the other hand, a rustic theme park of rough, but still very skate-able ledges, stairs, and gaps begging for some 4-wheeled love.
The dichotomy between the old world architecture and dynamic street skating provided by Knox and friends—Sylvain Tognelli, Nick Jensen, Remy Taviera, Mike Arnold, Chris Jones, and Casper Brooker—combines for a very potent cocktail of elegance, technical skill, and prestige—the perfect ode to such a legendary spot.
