Earlier this morning, a C-SPAN cameraman caught an unexpected visitor at the Trump Tower – Kanye West. Hope Hicks, spokesperson for Donald Trump, confirmed that West was there to meet the president-elect, but did not provide further details. Later, when the two returned to the lobby, Trump told reporters “we've been friends for a long time,” referring to Kanye. Reporters asked what was discussed in the meeting, but Trump simply replied that they “discussed life.”

West ignored questions about whether he would perform at Trump's inauguration or whether he would actually run for president in 2020. His only comment was that he “just wanted to take a picture right now.” This morning's meeting is the rapper's second public appearance since being discharged from the hospital last month after being admitted for exhaustion. Earlier in the year, West announced during a concert that he would have voted for Trump if he had bothered to vote at all.

An anonymous source told E! News that Trump reached out to West because he “thinks he's a great role model when it comes to business.” The insider reported that the president-elect was interested in making West an “ambassador of sorts” in an "entrepreneurial leadership role."
