Former New York Giants Tight End Caught With Truckload of Marijuana in Pennsylvania

NFL contracts aren’t guaranteed, so Adrien Robinson apparently went looking for other, less legal, business opportunities.

Playing in the NFL might seem like a dream job full of big dollars, celebrity friends and endorsement deals, but there are only so many Odell Beckham Jr.’s and Tom Brady’s. For most of the league, though, contracts aren’t guaranteed, daily pain leads to prescription pain pill habits and tomorrow is never promised.

According to the Pennsylvania Live, former New York Giants tight end Adrien Robinson, who has yet to find a team for the upcoming NFL season, was trying to supplement his football earnings this week when he was stopped by Pennsylvania state troopers and busted with 25 pounds of pot.

Drafted by the Giants in 2012, Robinson never found serious success in football. He played his last professional game in 2014 and was released last year after a short stint with the New York Jets. Since then, Robinson has apparently traded the gridiron for the greenery, but without any recreational cannabis laws and a yet to be enacted medical program in Pennsylvania, Robinson isn’t getting the same open-arms treatment as some of his ex-player ganjapreneur peers.

Robinson was stopped early this week for an erratic lane shift while driving on Interstate 80 in Union County, PA when officers uncovered 25 pounds of marijuana, a digital scale, a grinder, vacuum seal bags and a vacuum sealing machine.

The ex-football player told the cops that he was trying to make an NFL roster for the 2018 season, but that wasn’t enough to stop them from charging Robinson with possession with intent to deliver marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

At last update, Robinson was out on bail awaiting a trial date next week.
