California Senate Candidate Loretta Sanchez Dabbed During A Debate Today

She thinks she can dab her way to victory.

While politics have sunken to low depths in general, the constant war of words and petty insults between our two presidential candidates being a great example, we can unfortunately now also report that dance moves may have officially been added to the arsenal of weapons to combat your enemy in a debate.

In a debate that took place earlier today between California Attorney General Kamala Harris and Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez (both Democrats), who are both campaigning for the first open U.S. Senate seat for California in 24 years, Sanchez ended the debate in surprising fashion.

As the Congresswoman was wrapping up, and continuing to talk past her alotted time despite the moderator’s best efforts, she inexplicably stretched her arm to the side, lowered her head into the crook of her other elbow and stuck the pose we’ve all become so familiar with as her finale. Needless to day, Attorney General Harris was not amused and after basically rolling her eyes, started her final statment by sayng "so, there's a clear difference between the candidates in this race."

The permeation of pop culture into politics can sometimes be amusing and even welcome, but in this particular case, it seems like a rather desperate attempt to appeal to younger (dare we say, millennial?!) base. Incorporating a gesture made popular by hip-hop and football probably doesn’t really have any place in a race where the stakes are as high as the Senate.

To make matters worse, it wasn’t even a particularly strong dab. Migos and Cam are probably cringing at this one.
