As a record number of states are slated to vote for medical marijuana, authoritiescontinue to destroy cannabis plants and strip patients of their rights.

Still a recent study by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has found US adults are increasingly embracing cannabis.

According to the study, 7.4 percent of Americans aged 12 to 17 years old smoked marijuana regularly in 2014, a 10 percent decline since 2002.

Surpassing use among teens for the first time since at least 2002, are adults 35 to 44 year old. The fastest growing segment of tokers, however, are Seniors.  Adults age 65 and up monthly marijuana use is up 333 percent since 2002, the CDC found.

Stash Raided By Police in Oregon

A 60-year-old Beaverton, Oregon resident was cited Sunday after police seized 240 marijuana plants from his home. The homeowner, Tuyen Ngo, was cited for unlawful possession and manufacture of marijuana.

Ranging from seedlings to full grown plants, police stripped Ngo of all but four marijuana plants, as allowed by law.

Montana Medical Marijuana Dispensaries Close

Montana medical marijuana dispensaries closed thanks to new regulations which took effect Wednesday. The regulations limit pot providers to three patients each despite thousands of registered medical marijuana users.

The restrictions took effect after an unsuccessful five years of court battles to overturn the 2011 Montana law that undid much of the voter-approved 2004 medical marijuana law.

“It is one of the most significant rollbacks by the 25 states and Washington, D.C., that allow marijuana to be used for medical purposes,” Matt Volz wrote for the Associated Press.

Copenhagen Residents Shut Down Black Market Weed Dealers After Shooting

Residents in the semi-autonomous district of the Danish capital, Copenhagen, tore down kiosks where marijuana had been previously sold after a shooting this week.

The squat known as the Christiania district is known for its cannabis trade since it was founded 45 years ago. Two police officers were shot during an arrest of an allegedly known drug dealer. One is in critical condition. One officer and a civilian injured are stable. The gunmen died in a shootout with police.

"If they start building up the booths again tonight, then well, we're here tonight as well. The plan is to continue tearing them down until it works," Christiania resident Helene Schou told BBC.

The story illustrates the importance of a clear market for cannabis as an alternative to a more dangerous gray oxr black market.

Pot Grows More Popular Among US Adult

US adults increasingly accept marijuana, according to a new national survey data shows, confirming what many suspect as cannabis culture sheds its “stoner” stereotype and evolves into one of the U.S’s best thriving industries.

Adults are using more marijuana and using it more often, as far fewer think it’s the dangerous drug it was once made out to be. Half a million adults participated in the survey over twelve years.

One-third of adults said in 2014 that they believed weekly marijuana use was a danger to their health. That’s a 50% decrease compared to 2012.

According to the survey, daily use doubled to 3.5% of the population or cumulatively 8.4 million U.S. adults. Changes in perception of marijuana began to markedly shift in 2006-2007.

He’s also developing his own strains of marijuana flowers and concentrates. The Compton native, who recently released the single “Sauce”, said he views medical marijuana legalization as a human rights issue.

"At the foundation of every emerging industry is good people willing to stand up, step out and pave the way for future generations to come," The Game, who led a march with fellow rapper Snoop Dogg to a LAPD graduation ceremony to promote ending police violence against minorities, said. "The Reserve is my platform for nationwide education and statewide access to consistent, locally grown, premium medicine."

Florida Authorities Seize $16 Million In Marijuana

The Florida Department of Agriculture claimed in the annual “domestic marijuana eradication aerial spotter” sweep that authorities uncovered over 75 outdoor grow sites across the state and destroyed more than eight-thousand marijuana plants in multiple counties worth approximately $16.3 million.

The Domestic Marijuana Eradication Program provides funds to law enforcement agencies to offset marijuana grow investigations and provide in-depth training to law enforcement at no cost to the agencies.
